Hello, I am Mia
Project manager. Parent. An expatriate based in New York, United States.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Relocating to United States wasn’t in our long-range plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The first months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit our needs, met other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Ovek Oparu Pape
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in United States.
What This Site Is For (And What It Isn't)
This site provides:
- Practical insights from living in United States
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- Not an official tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in United States goes on, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in New York or anywhere in United States, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Mia
